Illustration Assignment — Berlin: This project epitomizes the Tom Friedman "The World is Flat" concept that anything can be done anywhere in the world, dictated only by internet access and the availability of skilled design and craft resources. This development of low-rise cluster homes is for a client in Romania. The Architect's offices are in Berlin. Jack was given only the floor plans of the units and asked to create art work for a brochure to sell the homes — all in a matter of three weeks. First a trip to Romania and Berlin for the briefing. Next, submission of concept sketches of two styles of furnishing: contemporary and traditional. Then back to New York to blitz out the 24 views needed. All room layouts, furniture, fabrics, art, etc were developed on the page spontaneously from Jack's imagination and rich experience with interior design. These drawings were then scanned, digitized, and sent to Poland via internet, where another artist specializing in watercolor completed the pieces under Jack's digital supervision. The final brochure was then completed in Berlin and sent out as PDF to be printed. Total time: just under four weeks!
